Peintre, sculpteur et expert en installations originales, faites avec des matériaux récupérés suite aux destructions israéliennes, Abdullah Alrozzi, nous raconte comment « l’art à Gaza sort de l’utérus de la souffrance ».
« Nous artistes palestiniens, vivons une réalité amère à cause de l’occupation israélienne.
Comme le reste du peuple palestinien, nous sommes exposés à des attaques racistes, assassinats, destructions, transferts, détentions, apartheid, et en plus à un blocus à Gaza.
Comme je vis à Gaza, je vous parlerai des artistes de Gaza qui enfantent dans la souffrance.

Car malgré les bombardements massifs et répétés, les conditions économiques et sécuritaires difficiles, instables, la roue de la culture et de l’art n’a cessé de tourner, tandis que le nombre d’artistes et d’expositions n’a cessé de grandir, de manière inattendue, au cours des 7 dernières années à Gaza.
La plupart des jeunes artistes n’ont aucune source de revenus et doivent compter sur des aides et opportunités offertes par des institutions nationales et étrangères. Ce qui nous amène à privilégier les matériaux bon marché et à recourir, pour notre art, à ce qui est disponible dans la nature et dans notre environnement. Et il s’agit souvent des restes laissés par l’occupant.
Certains artistes continuent bien entendu à utiliser des techniques traditionnelles, mais de nouveaux groupes sont nés, qui peignent sur les murs de l’espace public ou se spécialisent dans les graffitis.
Et comme il nous est impossible de voyager et de circuler en dehors de la bande de Gaza, nous essayons de faire passer nos messages via les réseaux sociaux.
– Et pour vous parler un peu de moi :
Je suis né en 1982 à Gaza, et j’ai rapidement étudié l’art au cours de mes études secondaires, puis supérieures, au sein de l’université Al-Aqsa, dans le domaine des arts visuels.
J’ai produit et exposé mon travail à de nombreuses reprises dans la bande de Gaza.
J’ai aussi eu la chance par le passé de pouvoir montrer mes oeuvres en Cisjordanie et j’ai pu participer à plusieurs concours à l’étranger.
Mais actuellement, je suis obligé de gagner ma vie, dans une activité qui n’a rien à voir avec mon travail artistique : je m’occupe d’obtenir des licences pour faire rentrer des voitures à Gaza.
Pas possible de vivre de mon art. Je pratique celui-ci à mon domicile et j’ai dû renoncer à avoir un atelier, dont le coût était devenu trop élevé.

– Et surtout des installations, parfois monumentales, à base de matériaux trouvés dans les décombres après chaque attaque israélienne, comme celle-ci dans une ancienne citerne d’eau de 10 m de haut, anciennement utilisée par les colons israéliens avant leur départ en 2005.
« Le thème de l’eau et des citernes d’eau, est récurrent pour ne pas dire obsessionnel, dans la vie et l’oeuvre des Palestiniens, et je me suis d’ailleurs inspiré du livre de Ghassan Kanafani « Des hommes dans le soleil ».
Même les boites de conserves déformées, trouées, montrent la douleur des Palestiniens.
« Ce travail (soutenu par la Fondation A M Al-Qattan de Ramallah dans le cadre d’un concours national) veut faire passer un message, celui de nous accrocher à nos droits usurpés, de s’accrocher, de surmonter les barrières et les murs les plus hauts. Il reflète la réalité de Gaza assiégée ».

This is the first presentation of a series of Palestinian artists whose life and work under Israeli occupation deserve to be known and show to many people who tend to say « we should not mix culture and politics » why we campaign for the cultural boycott of the Israeli occupyer.
« First, we the people of the Palestinians,and artists live with bitter reality because of the Israeli occupation. And we are exposed directly to the Israeli racist practices of killing, destruction, displace the and detention and the dimensions of the siege and an apartheid.
And I live in the Gaza Strip will talk about artists Gaza. And artists in the Gaza Strip give birth art from the womb of suffering.
Despite successive wars and security conditions unstable economic conditions harsh, but the culture and art wheel spin and circle artists are growing and expanding and during the 7 years prior art exhibitions and cultural dramatically growing, we did not expect.
Most of the young artists has no source of income and rely on the assistance to be provided to them from national or foreign institutions, a few opportunities. Many artists resort to works of art simple inexpensive, and some artists use the natural resources or raw materials available in the surrounding environment.
Artists resorted to the use of remnants of the occupation directly. And some of the artists paints traditional techniques, there are new groups have emerged paint graffiti art and painting a mural public art.
We can not travel and move freely outside the borders of the Gaza Strip and we are trying to deliver our production over social networking sites.

I was born in Gaza in 1982, and started artistic talent in the study preparatory and learned the arts in some sessions and art workshops and completed my studies in the field of visual arts at the University of Al-Aqsa in Gaza in 2005 and produced exhibitions and participated in many art exhibitions inside the Gaza Strip and the West Bank also participated in abroad, and participated in the many art competitions.
I am currently working public transport department in the field of extraction licenses for cars in Gaza, and I can not work in the field of art. I can not earn money from the Arts. I draw in my house and I can not open the Atelier a special financial cost.

This presentation was created inside an abandoned water tank, leaving the occupation before its redeployment in 2005, and was used by the settlers for agriculture and irrigation, ranging area of 800 meters and a height of 10 meters,
The use of the water tank is not new in the Palestinian consciousness, I’ve used the Palestinian writer Ghassan Kanafani in his novel (men under the sun),
This work was produced support of A M Al-Qattan Foundation in Ramallah in 2010, It is part of a national art competition, This offer entrenches idea to stick to our rights usurped, re-initialized again. These arts that penetrates all barriers, even if it is between high walls,
