Il est 13 heures, ce 29 octobre 1965, quand Mehdi Ben Barka, leader de l’opposition démocratique marocaine à la dictature de Hassan II, est aperçu montant à bord d’une voiture, au centre de Paris. On ne le reverra jamais plus. Ben Barka a été enlevé, puis torturé et exécuté, par une mafia mêlant agents du roi du Maroc, policiers français faisant des « heures sup’ », et, plus inattendu, les services du Mossad.
Le journaliste israélien Maxim Guilan, qui révèle la « contribution » de son pays à l’assassinat, est envoyé en prison pour atteinte à la « sécurité de l’Etat ».
Qu’est venu faire le Mossad dans cette affaire ? Et en quoi cela concernait-il la « sécurité » d’Israël ? En rien. Mais Israël, parfois pour le compte de son protecteur américain, parfois pour le sien, a constamment apporté son « savoir-faire » aux régimes les plus pourris de la planète.
En cette même année 1965, Israël démarre une collaboration avec la Rhodésie du Sud (le futur Zimbabwe), colonie africaine où la minorité blanche développe un système d’apartheid aussi hideux que celui de l’Afrique du Sud. Lorsque des sanctions internationales sont votées contre la Rhodésie raciste, Washington fournit des hélicoptères de combat à Israël, qui les revend à la Rhodésie du Sud.
Des mercenaires israéliens, avec le feu vert de leur gouvernement, sont envoyés dans les années 1970 prêter main forte aux dictatures alliées des Etats-Unis dans toute l’Amérique Latine, au Salvador, au Guatemala, au Nicaragua et même au Paraguay, pourtant connu pour abriter d’anciens nazis qui y ont trouvé refuge après la deuxième guerre mondiale.
Ce sont encore des militaires israéliens qui forment, au Malawi, les milices de tortionnaires du potentat local, le Dr Benda, ou qui assistent la cruelle police politique du Shah d’Iran, la Savak. Un général de réserve de « Tsahal », Shmuel Gonen, devient conseiller de l’empereur Bokassa Ier du Centre-Afrique, une marionnette de l’impérialisme français au palmarès des plus sanglants. Après le renversement de Bokassa par son protecteur français, en 1979, Gonen rentre au pays, et poursuit une carrière de politicien au sein du Likoud, alors au pouvoir. La liste est tout simplement interminable.

Israeli Democracy: Aiding and Abetting Dictatorships
At 1:00pm on October 29, 1965, Mehdi Ben Barka, leader of the Moroccan democratic opposition against the dictatorship of Hassan II, was spotted getting into a car in downtown Paris. He would never be seen again. Ben Barka was kidnapped, tortured and executed. The culprits included an unsavory collection of agents of the Moroccan king, French police working “overtime” and, unexpectedly, Mossad agents. Israeli journalist Maxim Guilan, who revealed the “contribution” of his country to this murder, was sent to prison, charged with an affront against “State security”.
What did the Mossad have to do with this affair? In what way did the internal intrigues of Morocco concern Israel? There are no apparent reasons. And yet Israel, sometimes acting as a proxy for its American protectors and other times on its own behalf, has constantly supplied its “know-how” to the most rotten regimes on the planet.
In the same year of 1965, Israel began its collaboration with Southern Rhodesia (the future Zimbabwe), an African colony where a minority of white settlers had developed a system as hideous as apartheid in South Africa. After the votes for international sanctions against Israel, the United States bypassed the sanction obligations by furnishing combat helicopters to Israel, which were then resold to Southern Rhodesia.
With a green light from their government, Israeli mercenaries relocated to various countries in Latin America, in order to add muscle to U.S. supported dictatorships in the 1970s. These mercenaries operated in El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and even in Paraguay, whose government was known for providing refuge for Nazi war criminals following World War II.
Yet more Israeli military personnel were involved in training Malawi militia torturers at the behest of the local strongman Dr. Benda, and even assisting the notorious military police, the Savak, under the Shah of Iran. A “Tsahal” reservist general, Shmuel Gonen, became the advisor of emperor Bokassa I of the Central African Republic, a puppet of French imperialism with one of the bloodiest records in the history of dictatorships. Following the overthrow of Bokassa by his French protectors in 1979, Gonen returned to Israel where he pursued a political career within the leadership of the Likud which was then in power.
These are just a few examples of Israeli collaboration with dictatorships around the world.
